A road through the Cotswold Water Park was closed overnight following a serious crash.
Emergency services were called to the single-vehicle road traffic collision involving a Nissan 350ZX on the B4696 in Ashton Keynes – near The Old Brickyard – at around 10pm.
Several ambulance vehicles including a critical care rapid response vehicle from Wiltshire Air Ambulance were at scene treating two casualties – with at least one suffering serious injuries.
Two fire crews, from Cricklade and Stratton, worked to free two casualties who were trapped in wreckage after the vehicle left the road and entered the undergrowth.
“The male driver sustained severe injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said. Adding: “Another passenger suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.”
By midnight, a forensic collision investigation was underway. Specialist officers lit the scene and worked for several hours to gather evidence and try to establish the cause of the crash.
The road reopened in the early hours of this morning.
