Wiltshire Police has gained a partial closure order for a Swindon address following a drugs warrant being carried out as part of an ongoing operation to tackle drug dealing.

The order was sought for the address in Baileys Farm Gardens, Walcot, and was granted by Swindon Magistrates yesterday after the home was subject to a drugs warrant on Tuesday.

A quantity of Class A and B drugs and a Taser were recovered. A 24-year-old woman was arrested for possession with intent to supply and has since been released under investigation.

The order, which will remain in place for up to three months, has been put in place to safeguard the occupant and young persons at the address.

It means that anyone, other than the resident named on the order, is prevented from entering the property. By doing so, they could be committing an offence and may be arrested.

Sgt Rich Fay said: “Closure orders of this nature enable us to protect the resident, local community, and prevent properties being used for the storage and preparation of drugs to be sold within our communities.

“The order will remain in place for three months – during this time we will continue to work with partner agencies including Swindon Borough Council, to come up with a long term solution to the problem.

“This is the 40th order of this nature that we as a Force have obtained in Swindon in the past 12 months and we will continue to target addresses that are being used to deal drugs from as the tactic has proved to be extremely successful in protecting our communities.”

If you have concerns that a neighbour or someone in your street is involved in drug dealing or is being cuckooed, please call police on 101. You can also report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
