Police in Cirencester are hunting two men from Swindon following a serious assault – which left a victim with a bleed on the brain.
Emergency services were called to a report of an unconscious man outside Café Nero in Market Square at around 10.40pm on Saturday (27 September)
Officers found a man, aged in his 40s, was serious injuries to his face and head.
The ambulance service rushed him to Great Western Hospital in Swindon, where he received treatment for a bleed on the brain, a head injury, a suspected broken jaw and displaced teeth.
He remains in hospital, but is said to be in a stable condition.
A crime scene was put in place to allow for forensic examination work – and was lifted on Sunday (28 September). CCTV enquiries were also carried out in the area.
Prior to being found unconscious, it is believed two other men had been involved in an altercation with the victim. They fled the scene before officers arrived.
The first man is described as being white, around 5ft 8ins in height with short, black hair and a full beard. He had tattoos on his face and was wearing black clothing.
The second man was also wearing black clothing and had his hood up.
Witnesses who were in the area at the time of the incident reported hearing the men say they were from Swindon.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Constabulary said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances around the incident and identify those involved.
“Officers are now appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident or who may have any information to come forward if they have not already spoken to police.
“Anyone with any relevant dashcam or mobile phone footage is also asked to get in touch.
“Information can be submitted to police online by completing the following form and quoting incident 468 of 27 September.”
