A Chippenham man tried to kick down his ex-partner’s door during a campaign of harassment.
Shane Mallia, 31, appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court to be sentenced for offences of using violence for the purpose of securing entry into premises and harassment.
Prosecutor Tom Power said the defendant, of Pembroke road, phoned and sent messages to his former girlfriend between 20 December 2021 and 30 March this year.
Furthermore, he on two occasions attended her home address against her wishes, and repeatedly knocked on the door and rang the bell.
On one of those occasions, 25 January, he attempted to kick down the door – which left a footprint.
Representing himself in court, Mallia said: “I did not kick the door to gain entry, I kicked it in anger”.
He added that he wasn’t attempting to enter the home, but lost control of his emotions and kicked out.
Magistrates imposed a 24-month community order with the requirement to undertake 80 hours of unpaid work and 35 rehabilitation days. He must also pay £85 costs and a £95 surcharge.
