Chaos on Wiltshire’s icy roads as police respond to many incidents

Police are responding to many incidents across Wiltshire this morning (Monday).

Due to icy roads, exacerbated by frozen flood water, emergency services have been kept busy with number crashes or dangerous road conditions.

In Salisbury, the hamlet of Ford is blocked by a bus crash. The vehicle is believed to have been involved in a minor collision on the bridge over the River Bourne.

In Lower Shockerwick, just outside Box, the A4 is closed due to a multi-vehicle crash, preventing motorists travelling their usual route between Bath and Chippenham.

The A363, at Farleigh Wick near Bradford on Avon, is closed by police due to dangerously icy conditions.

“Gritters are out in force. Please be very careful out there this morning due to icy road conditions in the surrounding area”, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said.

Due to a serious incident closing the M4 eastbound, there are also significant traffic delays on the A346 between Junction 15 and Marlborough.

As expected, there are delays on the M4 eastbound carriageway on the approach to Junction 15 too.
