A casualty has been rescued through a top-floor window at a care home in Swindon.
The incident, which took place on Tuesday evening (7 April), saw 999 crews rush to Princess Lodge Care Centre in Curie Avenue, Okus.
At the height of the rescue three fire appliances and one ambulance were in attendance. The patient was extricated via a second-floor window by fire crews using an aerial ladder platform appliance.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said that they were called “at 8:13pm last night to assist the ambulance service with moving a patient.”
Once on the ground, paramedics “conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Great Western Hospital”, South Western Ambulance Services confirmed.
Okus Road was closed in both directions until around 9.30pm, with Wiltshire Police confirming that officers only attended to support the fire service with closing the road.
