A casualty was taken to hospital after a road traffic collision in Swindon today.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Great Western Way at around 2.30pm today (21 March).

A black Audi ploughed through the central reservation near Mannington Roundabout.

The vehicle began to leak fuel, which ended up across the carriageway – leading to a cleanup operation.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) is in attendance alongside South Western Ambulance Service.

The road was closed in both directions between Mannington Roundabout and Blagrove Roundabout until around 5pm.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “Police are currently in attendance at a road traffic collision at the Mannington Roundabout, Swindon.

“We were called to the scene shortly after 2.30pm today (21/03).

“Only one vehicle is involved and we have closed a section of road due to a fuel leak.”

DWFRS said a crew from Westlea attended the scene to provide scene safety.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 14.37hrs today to a road traffic collision in the Mannington area of Swindon.

“We sent a double-crewed land ambulance, and conveyed one patient to Great Western Hospital.”

No details on the condition of the casualty has been provided, however, they are not believed to have suffered any serious injuries.
