A car has hit a stone wall and overturned in a smash outside a Wiltshire pub.

Emergency services were called to the A365 Bath Road, in Atworth near Melksham, following reports of a road traffic collision at around 7am today (Saturday).

A black estate car reportedly mounted the kerb, struck a stone wall and flipped onto its roof outside The White Hart pub.

The driver is not believed to have sustained any notable injuries, and was not drink driving.

A spokesperson for Atworth Parish Council said the the driver “must have been doing more than 30mph”.

They added that there is “extensive damage to a parishioners wall” following the incident.

At 9am, recovery work was ongoing – with sand and grit on the carriageway due to leaked oil and fluids.
