The passenger of a car which struck a tree in Ashton Keynes earlier this week has undergone emergency surgery for a fractured spine as a result.
Firefighters had to free the driver and passenger – both aged in their early 20s – from a significantly damaged Nissan 350ZX involved in the serious crash at around 10pm on Monday night.
The condition of the driver, who police say sustained ‘severe injuries’ in the collision, is unknown.
The B4696 was closed in both directions for around seven hours whilst forensic collision investigation work took place until around 5am.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance sent its critical care medics to the scene to treat the patients who were both taken to hospital by land ambulance for treatment.
