UPDATE: Man charged with three offences after Chippenham roundabout crash
A car overturned in a ‘very scary’ crash on a roundabout in Chippenham.
Emergency services were called to the A350 West Cepen Way, at the junction for Stainers Way, at around 6.30pm on Saturday evening (22 February).
The incident involved only a single vehicle – an orange Hyundai i20. The hatchback reportedly when into the air, narrowly avoiding other vehicles but demolishing a lamppost.
According to an eyewitness who narrowly avoided being hit, the car “flew right over” the roundabout, “rolling and missing our car by millimetres”.
She added that she had “never been so scared in my life”, and “smelt nothing but alcohol on them and in their car” following the dramatic smash.
Paramedics attended, assessing a woman passenger of the vehicle following the incident. She appeared upset and shaken at the roadside, but uninjured.
It’s claimed the driver was arrested at the scene, however, this has not been confirmed.
Wiltshire Police has been approached for comment, but it had not replied at the time of publishing.
