The busy A4 is closed and an air ambulance has landed following a serious crash.
Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision between Beckhampton Roundabout and Silbury Hill, east of Marlborough, shortly after 4pm today (Wednesday).
The incident has sparked a significant 999 responses, with stuck motorists reporting a ‘consistent string of emergency vehicles’ passing by them.
Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance also landed in a field alongside the crash.
The road is likely to remain closed between Beckhampton Roundabout and West Kennett for several hours. Further details are unknown at this time.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Please be aware of road closure in place on the A4 between the Marlborough Roundabout and the B4003 junction while emergency services attend a serious road traffic collision near Silbury Hill.
“Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes and expect significant delays in the area. Thank you for your patience.”
