A public toilet in Swindon town centre has been left covered in blood a man was stabbed in the chest in broad daylight earlier this afternoon.
Police officers taped off two large crime scenes – one outside the Tricentre 3 office building and one is the public toilets at the other end of the bus station – at around 3pm.
Police received a 999 call just after 2.30pm today, to a report of two men fighting in the area behind the bus station and near to Zurich Insurance.
The ambulance service attended the scene and a man in his 40s was taken to hospital with a chest injury.
Detective Sergeant Scott Anger said: “An extensive investigation is already underway, and we are appealing for anyone who was in the Fleming Way area of Swindon around 2pm and 2.30pm today to get in touch if they saw two men involved in an altercation.
“We believe this took place by the men’s toilets at the back of the bus station and near Zurich offices. If you witnessed the incident, please call police on 101.”
A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and has been taken to custody at Gablecross Police Station.
