A major crime scene is in place on a quiet street following a serious incident in Swindon tonight.
Emergency services were called to Clifton Street in Old Town at around 8pm, where is understood three men have suffered injuries in an traffic collision and an assault involving a ‘machete’.
Two sets of critical care air ambulance paramedics have attended the incident alongside three ambulances, numerous armed response officers and dog units.
One man, who gave first aid to a casualty at the scene but didn’t want to be named, told Wiltshire 999s: “I heard the commotion down the road so I went down to help. Two of the men looked to have serious injuries and were being seen to so I helped the man who had a broken leg in three places.
”I don’t know what happened but there was a machete in the road.”
Detectives from Swindon CID are at the scene, with crime scene investigators expected to arrive shortly. Clifton Street looking likely to remain closed for several hours.
A number of parked vehicles were damaged during the incident.
