Police have confirmed that a boy died in an incident near Tidworth skatepark.

Emergency services swarmed the A338 Pennings Road at around 8.15pm on Friday (18 August) – after an 11-year-old boy reportedly fell off his scooter.

Despite the best efforts of first responders, the youngster, named locally as Jakob, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The main route was closed and a large crime scene was put in place as police dealt with the incident.

Locals told Wiltshire 999s that numerous young people – said to be aged 11-14 – were sobbing and hugging one another near the tragady.

Wiltshire Police confirmed it was called by the ambulance service “following a report of an incident involving an 11-year-old boy”.

A spokesperson said: “The boy was treated by paramedics but sadly died.

“His family are being supported by our specialist trained officers and our thoughts are with them at this extremely difficult time.”

Approximately ten police vehicles, numerous ambulance resources and a forensic collision investigation van were spotted in attendance.

Over the course of Saturday, many people have laid flowers and tributes at the scene.

As first reported yesterday, Tidworth Town Council announced the Skatepark Jam, an event due to be held at the location, had been cancelled – but didn’t comment further.
