A body has been found in the search for Lynne Morrall in south Wiltshire.
The 69-year-old went missing on 22 March and police launched an urgent appeal to locate her in Salisbury and her home village of Downton.
On 4 April, Wiltshire Police managed to obtain CCTV footage from a bus – which confirmed that she travelled to Breamore, just over the county border in Hampshire.
Following a 16-day search, officers located a body in the Breamore today (Saturday) as drones and dogs were drafted in to scour the location.
In a statement, a force spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a body has been found in the search for missing Downton woman Lynne.
“Officers have been carrying out extensive search work in the Breamore area today with the assistance of the drone unit, specialist dogs and water resources after Lynne was reported missing on March 22.
“Sadly, a body was discovered this afternoon, and while formal identification has not yet taken place, the family of Lynne have been informed of this latest development.
“Our thoughts are with them at this extremely difficult time. Formal identification will take place in due course.
“Although it is early stages, we do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.”
