Blood in a Swindon woodland was from a man having a mental health episode.
Police responded to a call from a member of the public reporting to have discovered pools of blood in Stratton Woods, off Kingsdown Road, at around 2pm today (Wednesday).
Around a dozen officers were in attendance, carrying out urgent searches for a potential casualty. A drone was also flown overhead in a bid to locate them.
However, when news of the incident broke, South Western Ambulance Service contacted Wiltshire Police to inform them of an incident they attended in the early hours of this morning.
A man, aged in his 40s, sustained injuries while suffering a mental health episode. He was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment.

“Following a call from our colleagues in the ambulance service, it has been established that the blood in Stratton Woods relates to a mental health-related incident in the early hours of this morning.
“A man in his 40s was taken to hospital by the ambulance service for treatment.
“As such, we have lifted the scene. Thank you for your patience while this was dealt with.”
