B4019 closed by police after reports of several crashes on icy road

The B4019 has been closed in both directions after reports of several crashes this morning.

The road traffic collisions, which happened at around 7am, are thought to have been caused by icy conditions on the busy country road between Highworth and Blunsdon.

Karen Fleur, on Facebook, commented: “Water running down the road has frozen and people have skidded off. All preventable if SBC just did some basic ditch/grip maintenance.”

It’s not yet clear how long the road will be closed for. We’ve approached Wiltshire Police for comment.
