A Swindon man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was attacked in broad daylight.
The man, in his 20s, was said to be on his way home via Thames Avenue having completed the school run shortly before 9.30am yesterday morning.
He was rushed to Great Western Hospital for treatment for injuries to his hands, believed to be knife wounds, and a head injury. Within hours he was transferred to the John Radcliffe Hospital in a life-threatening condition.
Wiltshire Police has confirmed that a knife was found at the scene.
A spokesperson for the force said: “In connection with this incident, we have arrested a 28-year-old man from Swindon on suspicion of attempted murder.
He is currently in police custody helping us with our enquiries.
“A man in his 20s being treated at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, remains in a life threatening condition.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident which took place in Thames Avenue Swindon at about 9.15am to contact us on 101 quoting log number 51 of yesterday (04/05/21).”
