An arson attack and knife threats have landed a Swindon man a prison sentence.
Drug addict Craig Day set fire to the carpet of a hostel in Caufield Road, Gorse Hill, in a row over his missing cocaine on 24 November last year.
Swindon Crown Court heard that the 36-year-old poured lighter fluid on the floor to start the flames, and continued pouring it on to fuel the blaze.
Moments before committing arson, Day had picked up a knife and threatened a resident with it – but only after the ‘victim’ hit him with a chair.
He previously pleaded guilty to making threats with a knife, arson and criminal damage.
The troubled defendant, of of Briarswood Court, Liden – who has a long history of offending – was sentenced to four years behind bars.
