An arrest warrant has been issued for a man accused of attacking a woman with a dog.
John-Paul Hibbell, 43, was released on conditional bail following his appearance at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on Monday 16 January.
The homeless defendant allegedly used his dog as a weapon to seriously wound a woman outside Tesco in Castle Street at around 1.30pm on Saturday 14 January.
He’s charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and owning a dog that caused injury whilst dangerously out of control.
Prosecutor Bethany Adams told the court previously that the female victim sustained “deeply, deeply disturbing” injuries as a result of the dog “mauling her for a long period of time”.
She alleged that Hibbell punched the woman in the face and used the dog as a “weapon” – resulting in “severe” wounds to her arms.
Hibbell was released on bail with conditionals not to enter Wiltshire and to report to Bridewell Police Station in Bristol every Friday.
However, he failed to attend his plea and trial preparation hearing at Salisbury Crown Court on 17 February and subsequently, a warrant for his arrest was issued.
