Armed police were deployed following reports of a teenager with a gun in Trowbridge.
Firearms officers, supported by a dog unit and the police helicopter, carried out urgent searches in the town from 6pm onwards yesterday (Friday, 6 October).
A 15-year-old boy was arrested suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm.
In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: “A 15-year-old boy has been arrested following a number of reports of a youth seen carrying a suspected firearm in Trowbridge at approximately 6pm yesterday (6/10).
“Officers attended the scene and carried out extensive area searches and CCTV enquiries.
“Following these enquiries, a 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm and he remains in custody in Gablecross for questioning.
“Enquiries are ongoing”
