Armed police swarmed Trowbridge after a person was shot with an air rifle.
A member of the public suffered a minor injury in the shooting at around 12.30pm today (27 March).
Firearms officers were immediately deployed to the scene, with local officers closing off local roads – including Manor Road, a busy county town route.
Wider patrols were carried out by officers, whilst armed police conducted a detailed search of the area where the person was injured.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that the weapon was an air rifle, which in some circumstances can cause life-changing and fatal injuries.
The suspect, a teenage boy, was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH). He remains in custody for questioning.
It’s not clear if the injured person required hospital treatment.
“We would like to reassure the public that there is no ongoing threat”, a force spokesperson said.
