Armed police have swarmed a house near Trowbridge — with a major road shut in both directions.
Firearms officers were deployed to an address off A361 Frome Road, Southwick, at around 1pm today (Monday).
Police are flying a drone to monitor the rear of the building and two dog units are in attendance.
Dog handlers are wearing full ballistic kit — including a helmet.
Speculation from locals suggests a man has made threats with a gun, but this has not been confirmed.
Locals claim police officers told them to remain indoors for their own safety.
The road is closed in both directions between Chantry Gardens and Firs Hill.
Police are not allowing motorists or pedestrians down the road — unless local residents require access to their homes.
Residents who live close to the incident scene are being conveyed to their homes in police vehicles.
