Armed police were called to Calne following reports of a man waving a sword.

The firearms officers surrounded flats in Forman Street shortly before 8am today (9 December) after a call about a resident arguing with a neighbour.

The armed response was precautionary due to a claim one of those involved in the dispute was in possession of a sword at the location.

However, officers found no weapons of any kind at the scene.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Upon officers conferring with all parties, no sword or any other weapons were found to have been used.

“No arrests were made at the scene.

“Ongoing work will be completed in conjunction with the residents and housing associations, where required.”
