Armed police arrested a man in Royal Wootton Bassett this morning.
Officers swarmed the town after reports of a man spotted with a firearm in the High Street at 1.30am (24 April).
The National Police Air Service helicopter was seen circling the area following the report.
One male was detained in the street at gunpoint, but he was later allowed on his way – with officers deeming him to be an innocent bystander.
A 25-year-old man was later arrested at his home address and taken into custody.
The man is in custody, held on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm in a public place.
