An air ambulance has been scrambled after a serious crash in rural Wiltshire.
Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on the A338 just east of Burbage at around 5pm this afternoon (Friday).
Further details about the incident are unknown at this stage, but there is a significant amount of 999 resources on scene.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance landed in a field alongside the crash – close to Piccadilly Crossroads. It remained on the ground at 6.40pm.
The busy route, which links Burbage with Hungerford, is likely to remain shut for some time.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We are currently dealing with a road traffic collision on the A338 and a closure is in place near Marlborough.
“Please seek alternative routes and expect delays if travelling in the area.”
