The A350 near the motorway junction in Chippenham was closed by police this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision at around 3.30pm today (Wednesday).

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Malmesbury Road, close to to the staggered crossroads for Kington St Michael and Kington Langley.

Great Western Air Ambulance was called to the scene to assist local ambulance crews and Wiltshire Air Ambulance, who attended in a rapid response vehicle.

However, the casualty’s injuries weren’t as serious as first thought. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

The road was closed southbound for approximately one hour, reopening at 4.30pm.

In a statement at the time, Wiltshire Police wrote: “Please be aware that the A350 southbound, from Junction 17 to the Malmesbury roundabout, is currently closed following a road traffic collision in which a pedestrian received minor injuries.

“Drivers should expect delays in the area due to congestion while the scene is cleared. Thank you for your patience.”
