UPDATE: Moped rider killed in head-on crash with car near Swindon
An air ambulance has landed for a serious motorbike crash near Swindon.
Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on the B4553, near Purton, at around 11am this morning (Tuesday).
The incident is understood to involve a motorcycle and a car, with one person sustaining significant injuries.
Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance landed at the scene, with critical care medics providing urgent care to a casualty.
The road has been closed in both directions between Collins Lane on the B4553 and Packhorse Lane for investigation work.
The route is expected to remain closed for several hours.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Please be aware of road closures in place on the B4553 to the west of Swindon, at the junction of Collins Lane on the B4553 and Packhorse Lane, following a road traffic collision.
“Closures are expected to be in place for some time.
“Drivers should seek alternative routes and expect delays in the area.”
