The A419 is closed in both directions following a serious road traffic collision.
Emergency services responded to reports of the smash on the main route’s southbound carriageway at around 8pm today (6 July).
Wiltshire Air Ambulance landed in the middle of the road in order to attend the scene swiftly.
The road is currently closed in both directions between Blunsdon and Cricklade.
Wiltshire 999s understands a motorcyclist was involved in the crash, but it’s not clear what other vehicles – if any – were involved.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Drivers please be aware that the A419 is currently closed in both directions following a collision involving a motorbike.
“We were called to the incident on the southbound carriageway at Blunsdon just after 8pm.
“Both the northbound and southbound carriageways are closed between Blunsdon and Castle Eaton while the air ambulance lands at the scene.
“Please seek an alternative route.”
A National Highways said: “The A419 is currently blocked in both directions between the B4696 and the B4019 near Blunsden (sic) following a serious collision.
“All emergency services including the air ambulance are working at the scene.”
