A man has appeared in court charged with sexually assaulting a car saleswoman.
Swindon Magistrates’ Court head that Trevor Wood, 56, faces charges of assault by beating and sexual assault relating to the incident in August 2021.
The defendant, of Stonybeck Close, Westlea, is accused of making lude comments before cuddling the stranger in front of his wife at a showroom in Swindon.
Prosecutor Natalie Cheesman alleged that Wood and his wife attended the car showroom and were approached by the saleswoman on the forecourt as they browsed vehicles.
She claims, whilst the saleswoman is talking to the couple, the defendant said “I could take you over the bonnet” before cuddling her.
Ms Cheesman says the alleged victim, in her 20s, was left uncomfortable and upset by the incident.
Defending, Emma Thacker said her client denies the comments and the assault.
The case was adjourned for a trial at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 22 July. He was released on unconditional bail.
