The A420 is blocked in both directions following a road traffic collision.

Emergency services were called to the smash on the main route just west of Chippenham at around 11am this morning (Friday, 15 July).

The crash – involving a car and a lorry – happened on the A420 junction that leads towards Yatton Keynell and Castle Combe.

On one’s believed to have been seriously hurt in the incident.

Motorists are likely to face diversions and delays in the area for at least the next two hours.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire and Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said: “Two fire crews from Chippenham, a crew from Calne and the heavy rescue unit from Trowbridge attended a road traffic collision on the A420 at Allington.

“The incident involved a car and a lorry with one female trapped in the car.

“After being assessed by paramedics, and the firefighters removing the car door, the casualty was able to self-extricate.”
