The A419 is closed in both directions near Swindon after a ‘serious’ crash.
Emergency services were called to the major road between Blunsdon and Cricklade at around 3.30pm this afternoon (Monday).
The incident, which is understood to be on the junction for Castle Eaton, is said to have involved at least two vehicles.
Witnesses report seeing numerous police vehicles, fire engines and ambulances in attendance – labelling it “serious”.
The road is blocked in both directions – with a significant 999 presence.
UPDATE 4.15PM: The northbound carriageway has reopened, with motorists able to pass the incident. There are lengthy delays on the approach, and traffic is slow moving.
UPDATE: 4.30PM: A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Please be aware that the A419 southbound at the Castle Eaton/Seven Bridges junction is currently blocked following a serious collision.
“There are currently lengthy delays. Please find alternate routes.”
UPDATE 5.30PM: Road now open.
