UPDATE: A350 near M4 closed after lorry overturns in Chippenham crash
The A350 is closed after a lorry overturned in a crash in Chippenham.
Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on the busy route outside the BP service station in the early hours of this morning (Friday).
A HGV driver failed to successfully navigate a roundabout, with the vehicle overturning and spilling its gravel load on the grass.
The incident has closed the A350 in the direction of the M4 – blocking access for motorists.
Wiltshire 999s understands the driver was assessed by paramedics on scene, but was not seriously injured and didn’t require hospital care.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “There is an overturned lorry on Malmesbury Road, Chippenham.
“The A350 is closed from Morrisons to the BP garage, as well as the [Bumpers Farm] roundabout.
“No traffic can currently travel north on A350 from Chippenham to the motorway.
“Recovery is likely to take several hours. Diversions are in place.”
