The A303 is closed in both directions while a field blaze throws up a huge smoke plume.
The main route has been closed between Winterbourne Stoke and Long Barrow as emergency services rush to the scene this afternoon (Tuesday, 9 August).
A field, including bales of straw, is well alight – with more than five fire crews at the incident.
Stonehenge is located approximately three miles from the fire.
In a statement, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received a call at 4.35pm this afternoon about a field fire near the A303, Winterbourne Stoke.
“Crews are in attendance from Salisbury, Shaftesbury, Cranborne, Fordingbridge, Andover, Tisbury and Mere along with water carriers from Wilton and Andover.
“The incident involves approximately 9 hectares of crops and bales. The A303 has been closed in both directions – the incident is ongoing.”
