A dog was rescued from a drainage tunnel by firefighters in Westbury today (Wednesday).
A crew from Westbury Fire Station was mobilised to an animal rescue incident after a dog became trapped underground.
Ruby, the dog, had discovered an open drainage tunnel and crawled inside before becoming stuck. Firefighters arrived at the scene and began efforts to rescue her.
They were assisted by Wiltshire Council, highways maintenance teams and several knowledgeable local residents.
Thanks to a combined effort, Ruby was safely brought back to the surface.
“A crew from Westbury were mobilised to an animal rescue incident today”, a spokesperson for the fire service said.
Adding: “Upon arrival, A dog by the name of Ruby had found an open drainage tunnel, crawled in and got stuck.
“The crew along with the help of Local council, highways maintence, and a few knowledgable locals all worked together to bring her to safety. Well done to all.”
