Manchester Road in Swindon remains closed by police this morning (Thursday) – as a murder enquiry continues.
A man was found with serious injuries on the doorstep of a shared house shortly after 5am on Wednesday (2 July), with the victim dying in hospital a short time later.
The busy route through Broadgreen, in Swindon town centre, remains shut. Numerous police officers guard the scene and a mobile welfare van is parked across the road.
Forensic work can be expected to continue throughout the day as detectives investigate the killing.
A 31-year-old man remains in police custody following his arrest, held on suspicion of murder.
In a previous statement, Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker said: “This is a serious incident which has sadly resulted in a man losing his life.
“An investigation is ongoing and we are keeping an open mind as to the circumstances that led to this man’s death.
“We are asking members of the public to help by sharing any information they may have in relation to this.”
He continued: “We would especially like to hear from a male, who was on an electric bike, who initially approached officers to make them aware of the incident but then left the scene without leaving his details.
“We appreciate the concern the public will have, given the recent terrorism arrest in the area, however it’s important to stress that there is no information to suggest that this incident is linked.”
