A biker was killed when four motorcycles were struck by a car on a Wiltshire route.

Three air ambulances were scrambled to a road traffic collision on the A36 at Knook, near Warminster, at around 10.30am this morning (Saturday).

Wiltshire Police say the incident involved a car – a red Toyota Prius – and four motorcycles.

Only one of the bikes – a yellow Piaggio scooter – was visible at the scene, with the others understood to be in the nearby undergrowth.

A man aged in his 60s, who was riding a motorcycle, sustained significant injuries and was pronounced dead. His next of kin has been informed.

“Our thoughts remain with his family at this difficult time”, a spokesperson for the force said.

Three other motorcyclists have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance (WBAA), Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA) and Great Western Air Ambulance landed at the scene.

WBAA flew one casualty to the Major Trauma Centre at Southampton General Hospital, while DSAA took another to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol.
