A casualty has been airlifted to a Bristol hospital after an incident in Swindon.

999 crews attended a medical emergency in Shafesbury Avenue, Park North, at around 10.20am this morning (Wednesday).

The Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) helicopter landed on grass close to the scene, with three on-board critical care medics providing urgent care.

Locals reported seeing two ambulances and a rapid response ambulance car in attendance ahead of the aircraft. No police vehicles were sighted.

The patient, once stabilised, was airlifted to the Regional Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. Their condition is unknown.

A spokesperson for GWAAC confirmed a team were tasked to the incident at 10.21am.

Adding: “They responded by helicopter with a critical care doctor and two specialist paramedics on board.

“They treated the patient on scene, before airlifting them to hospital for further treatment.”
