A man is in hospital after ‘smashing up his own car’ in Swindon on New Year’s Day.

Police responded to reports of a disorder in the Attlee Crescent area of Meadowcroft at around 9.10pm on Wednesday (1 January).

One local resident claimed there was a “large police presence” near Church Walk – as officers raced to deal with a raging male.

However, the man was found to have suffered injuries after damaging his own vehicle.

The casualty – aged in his 40s – was taken to hospital by officers for treatment.

Wiltshire Police confirmed that nobody else was involved.
