A woman has been arrested after a man suffered head injuries in a Swindon car park.

Emergency services were called to Spring Gardens in the town centre at around 5.30pm on Wednesday afternoon (16 October).

A man, aged in his 30s, sustained serious head injuries and received treatment from paramedics.

He was taken to hospital for further care, but his wounds are not described as life-threatening.

Officers arrested a woman, aged in her 40s, in connection with the attack.

She was held in custody on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm, but has since been bailed while investigative work is carried out.

A crime scene was put in place within the multi-storey car park, with forensics on scene until late afternoon yesterday (Thursday, 17 October).

There was a bicycle and a dry pool of blood within the cordon, and a can of alcohol was swabbed for DNA before the scene was lifted.

The incident happened directly next door to Booth House, a hostel for homeless people. It’s not yet known whether the suspect or victim resided there.

Full statement from Wiltshire Police:

“Officers were called to Spring Gardens car park, Swindon at around 5.30pm on Wednesday (16/10) to assist ambulance staff responding to a medical incident.

“Shortly after a woman in her 40s was arrested on suspicion of GBH. She has been bailed while enquiries continue.
