A woman is fighting for her life following a crash near Royal Wootton Bassett.

Emergency services were called to a three-vehicle road traffic collision on the A3102 at Tockenham at around 8.30am this morning (Friday).

The incident happened directly outside F Drury and Sons slaughterhouse – closing the major route in both directions during rush hour.

The crash involved a white Renault Kangoo van, a black Ford Mondeo and a grey Kia Sportage.

The driver of the Kangoo, a woman aged in her 30s, has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

She was extricated from the vehicle by firefighters from Swindon, Westlea and Trowbridge. Wiltshire Air Ambulance medics – travelling a rapid response car – were also on hand.

A passenger in the Mondeo, a woman aged in her 40s, suffered serious injuries and has been taken to hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Mondeo, a man aged in his 40s, suffered minor injuries.

The A3102 is closed in both directions for forensic collision investigation work, and isn’t expected to reopen until this evening.

HGV drivers are being asked to divert at Royal Wootton Bassett and Lyneham due to a lack of space for turning at the official road closure.

In a statement this morning, Wiltshire Police said: “Drivers please be aware that the A3102 at Tockenham Wick is currently closed in both directions following a serious RTC.

“Please find alternate routes.”

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service also advised people to “avoid the area”.

Witnesses, or anyone with information or dashcam footage, are asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01225 694597 quoting log 52 of today (5 July). Alternatively, email [email protected].
