A former teacher from Wiltshire is accused of asking a young girl for naked photos.

33-year-old Robert Escott is charged with attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child between 28 March and 31 March last year.

The father, of Churchill Avenue, Melksham, initially appeared at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on Monday 29 April – but gave no indication of plea.

Prosecutor David Logan-Rose alleged that Escott has communicated with who he believed to be a 12-year-old girl after adding her as a friend on Snapchat.

The social media profile was actually managed by an undercover police officer posing as a child.

It’s claimed he asked the ‘girl’ to send images of herself wearing a bra and thong, or naked.

Mr Logan-Rose said that Estcott sent images of his penis and photos of himself using a gym.

Due to the serious nature of the case, the case was sent to Salisbury Crown Court.

A plea and trial preparation hearing was due to take place today (Wednesday), but has been adjourned until 16 August to allow time for the defence to obtain medical reports.

At the earlier hearing, the defendant was released on bail with two conditions: not to have unsupervised contact with any child and not to go to a listed address in Chippenham between the hours of 6pm and 7am.

According to Estcott’s LinkedIn profile, he worked as a primary school teacher in Wiltshire between September 2016 and December 2020 – but now works in marketing.
