A young boy who was killed by a car near a children’s play park in his street has been described as ‘bubbly and kind’ by his mum.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance and other first responders raced to the scene in Dilton Marsh, near Westbury, following reports of a serious crash involving a vehicle and a child.

Eight-year-old Lennix Sutcliffe sustained significant injuries after being struck by the car – and despite the best efforts of witnesses and medics, he was pronounced dead.

Shortly after the tragic incident, his grandfather Nigel Sutcliffe – who assisted with CPR – said: “No words can express the grief I feel tonight at the loss of my little grandson”.

He added: “r.i.p little one till we meet again”.

Mr Sutcliffe shared a photograph of smiley Lennix wearing a visibility jacket to accompany the heart-wrenching post on social media.

Speaking to the MailOnline today (Sunday), his mum Jackie Meredith said he was “bubbly and kind”, adding that he was “loved by everyone”.

She spoke of how Lennix had only celebrated his eighth birthday two weeks ago – saying “he had his whole life ahead of him”.

At the scene in Woodland View, a quite residential cul-de-sac, flower tributes have been left – many attached to The Breach Play Area fencing.

A man, aged in his 30s, has been interviewed in connection with the fatal crash, but no arrests have been made.

Witnesses to the collision, or anyone who may have dashcam footage, are asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Wiltshire Police on 01225 694597 quoting log number 218 of yesterday’s date (13 April).

“Alternatively, you can contact the team directly by emailing [email protected].”
