A woman has been rushed to hospital after being struck by a car in Swindon.

Emergency services were called to a crash involving a pedestrian in Whitbourne Avenue at around 6.40pm yesterday (Thursday, 22 February).

Police closed the road near Shaftesbury Avenue while paramedics attended the scene.

The casualty, a woman aged in her 30s, was taken to hospital with injuries. It was initially believed she’d suffered broken bones, but this was later ruled out.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police confirmed that the driver of the car involved remained at the scene, and no arrests were made.
