Police have launched an investigation after reports of two men attacking a dog.

The suspects are alleged to have held down a dog and beaten it at the roadside on the A4 between Beckhampton and Calne on Boxing Day (26 December).

When challenged by a member of the public at around 3.30pm, they claimed their dog was ‘acting up’ – according to a witness who reported the incident to police.

Wiltshire Police are looking to identify the two males pictured – and asked those with information or dash cam footage to get in touch.

PC Laura Hughes said: “We take reports of this nature extremely seriously and are keen to speak to the two men involved and check on the welfare of the dog.”

Anyone with information should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54230136544. Alternatively, call CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
