An infamous Swindon woman who attacked two paramedics has returned to the courtroom – after committing more assaults on emergency workers.

Police were called when 27-year-old Vanessa Blakey left the Great Western Hospital, where she was receiving treatment, early on Saturday morning (16 December).

Officers located her on the A419 slip-road and took her back to the ward for treatment. During the incident, she kicked PCs Anderson and Hockham in the legs.

In February this year, Blakey avoided a prison sentence for inflicting grievous bodily harm on a paramedic – who she knocked unconscious as her attempted to help her on a cycle path.

Nick Brown sustained a broken eye socket, whilst his colleague student paramedic Callum suffered broken ribs when she kicked out at him.

The case went viral and was featured in national newspapers – after South Western Ambulance Service published body-worn camera footage of the attack. Watch it on Facebook >

At Swindon Magistrates’ Court today (Monday), she pleaded guilty to two new charges of assaulting emergency workers by beating and admitted breaching her suspended sentence order.

Clare Gooding, defending, said that her client has a “complex background” and mental health issues.

She said the Blakey had heard “nurses talking about her in an unpleasant fashion” and left the hospital in a distressed state – walking towards the A419.

Asking the court not to activate her suspended sentence, Ms Gooding said that the defendant is “doing very well in terms of her engagement” with the probation service.

Probation officer Pete Williams said that she has failed to attend a number of appointments and is in breach of the order. He asked for the order to continue so further progress can be made.

Magistrates told Blakey, of Beaulieu Close, Toothill, to pay £150 in fines and a £40 surcharge.

The chair of the bench advised her to communicate with the probation service to get help with her ongoing issues, to which she replied from the dock: “There is no help, there isn’t; it’s fact.”
