A woman who attacked three police officers has been banned from going to a nightclub.

Tori Thompson, also known as Tahliah Thompson, pleaded guilty to assaulting emergency workers and appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court for sentencing today (Monday).

The 23-year-old was ejected from Power Lounge, a nightclub in Swindon town centre, late on 14 September – after she was caught doing drugs in the toilets.

Prosecutor Tony Nowogrodzki said that PC Ian Duffin witnessed the defendant throw a haymaker style punch towards door staff after they called the police for assistance.

He rushed to restrain Thompson and she kicked him in the groin area, causing some discomfort.

She was found to have slash wounds to her wrist and was taken for treatment. At the Great Western Hospital, Thompson threatened to kick officers as they removed her from their vehicle.

True to her word Thompson kicked PC Leonardo Koca in the face and during the subsequent struggle, kneed PC Rachel Beer in the face.

The court heard that she was convicted assaulting two police officers back in August, and sentenced less than two weeks prior to these new attacks.

Liz Highams, defending, said that her client is “working with a number of agencies”, including The Nelson’s Trust to deal with her alcohol and drug problems.

She said that the defendant, of Shenton Cose, Swindon, suffers with mental and physical health issues. Ms Highams said that she had “reverted to alcohol to help deal with what was going on in her life”.

District Judge Joanna Dickens handed her a prohibited activity requirement, preventing her from going to Power Lounge for one year and told her to pay £70 in compensation to each injured officer.

She said: “Assaults on police officers are really serious. Not because they’re so fantastic, but because they’re police officers, they are doing a difficult job.

“They put themselves always in huge danger… they’ve got families, these are human beings, and whatever you think of how they are doing their job, they are actually doing it.”
