Four people, including two children, have been seriously injured in a crash in Wiltshire.

Emergency services were called to the road traffic collision on the A30 Salisbury Road just outside Shaftesbury at around 6pm yesterday evening (Friday, 17 November).

It involved a silver BMW was travelling westbound when it collided with a black Toyota Verso travelling in the opposite direction between the junctions of New Lane and Charlton Lane.

The BMW driver, a man aged in his 40s, was airlifted to Southampton Hospital with life-threatening injuries. His next of kin have been informed.

The driver of the Toyota, a woman aged in her 40s, along with two children in the Toyota were taken to Salisbury District Hospital with serious injuries.

Despite the incident occurring so close to Shaftesbury, a town in north Dorset, it was on the Wiltshire side of the county border by just 50 metres.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have dash cam are asked to contact the serious collision investigation team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 260 of yesterday’s date.

“Alternatively, they can contact the team directly at [email protected].”
