A suspected illegal immigrant has been arrested following a lorry driver’s call to the police.

At around 6.45pm on 1 February, officers were called to a lay-by on the A419 near Blunsdon following reports from an articulated lorry driver that someone was inside his vehicle.

On arrival, police found a 30-year-old man, believed to be from Eritrea, inside. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of being an illegal immigrant.

Wiltshire Police says that the matter has now been passed on to the UK Border Agency.
