A Swindon man has been charged with a number of child sex offences after so called paedophile hunters visited an address in the Penhill area on Sunday afternoon.

Christopher Bradford, 35, of Penhill, has been charged with five counts including:

  • Attempt to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity (no penetration)
  • Attempt to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity (penetration)
  • Attempt sexual communication with a child
  • Attempt to cause a child to watch a sexual act
  • Attempt sexual communication with a child

He has been remanded in custody and is due at Swindon Magistrates Court this morning.

At the scene, eight men – thought to be paedophile hunters – were also arrested on suspicion of violent disorder;  they have now been released under investigation.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We would always urge members of the public to speak directly to police if they have any information about a crime, rather than posting on social media.

“If anyone has any information relating to this case then we would ask them to contact DS Lou Morley on 101. Alternatively information can be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
